Kitchen Sink Cookies

kitchen sink cookies
This past weekend I had a wonderful baby shower hosted by some of my closest friends in the Houston area at Benjy’s restaurant!

Baby Olivia received so many great things and I am so excited that I can finally start filling her closet and dresser. The room is almost complete. I just need to get a glider/rocker and hang her name on the wall and then it’s done. I am a HUGE organizer/planner and having our first baby is really throwing me for a loop as to what goes where and what we will use the most. Any pointers are always welcome!
I made homemade noodles for our wedding hostess gifts a year ago and I knew that I wanted to make something for the shower hostesses as well. Who doesn’t love cute cookies stored in a paint can with the top painted pink. Sorry, I forgot to take a picture for all of you to see the painted can. I love baking cookies and adding lots of different items to them. I went to the grocery store a week ago looking for plain pink m&m’s but all I could find were flavored raspberry m&ms. They are so good and they do not have a huge raspberry flavor. Of course, the cookies needed lots of chocolate so I added whole Oreo mini’s and chocolate chunks.

The biggest problem wasn’t finding what to include with these cookies but rather coming up with a name suitable for this delicious recipe. I came up with the name Kitchen Sink cookies due to the fact that it has m&m’s, Oreos and chocolate chunks all coming together for the perfect taste combination. You probably all have heard of the saying “everything but the kitchen sink” well I think on this recipe I included the kitchen sink!

ENJOY!

Kitchen Sink Cookies

Yield: Makes over 40 cookies
Cook Time: 12 minutes
Total Time: 12 minutes

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon instant ground espresso
  • 1 cup mini oreos
  • 1 cup m&m’s
  • 1 cup Nestle chocolate chunks

Instructions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

In a large mixer add butter and sugars and mix until creamy. (About 5 minutes)  Beat in the eggs and vanilla.
In another bowl add flour, baking soda, salt and ground espresso.  Slowly add the flour mixture to the large mixing bowl and beat until everything is well incorporated but don’t over mix.  Stir in the oreos, m&m’s and chocolate chunks.

With a cookie or ice cream scoop add them to a cookie baking sheet or silicone mat.  Cook 12-14 minutes or until slightly brown because they will continue to bake once you take them out of the oven.
