Heart Shaped Peanut Butter Cookies are the perfect treat for Valentine’s Day. They are easy to make and it’s the ideal dessert to incorporate the kids.

As Valentine’s Day approaches “some” people have chocolate, diamonds, flowers and romantic dinner dates on their mind. When you’re not thinking about your own special day you are busy prepping for your kid’s school parties. Did you spell the name correctly on all 42 Unicorn sticker cards? Did you get the teacher something? You forget that you signed up to bring cookies to the party and you fret about making your own or going to the store for a batch of soft frosted sugar cookies. Or a batch of these Peanut Butter Cookies. 

Heart Shaped Peanut Butter Cookies Recipe

These heart-shaped peanut butter cookies will be a crowd pleaser with kids and adults. In fact, I tested out a batch and took them to work. My husband and the kids were mad that I was sharing and my co-workers were upset that I didn’t bring more cookies. I guess you can’t please everyone.

For this recipe, you can swap out Reese’s hearts for Hershey kisses. My tip is to allow the cookies to cool for at least 5 minutes after you’ve removed them from the oven before placing any chocolate on top. After placing the chocolate on top, I placed the cookies in the refrigerator for 3-4 minutes to allow the chocolate to cool with the cookies, so I didn’t have a circle blob on top. I may have found that out the hard way.

Heart Shaped Peanut Butter Cookies

Heart Shaped Peanut Butter Cookies
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 8 minutes
Total Time 18 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 stick or 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar, divided
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 24 Reese's Peanut Butter Heart

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl cream together the butter, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup light brown sugar.
  2. Slowly beat in the eggs and vanilla.
  3. Stir in the peanut butter, baking soda, and flour.
  4. Refrigerate the dough for 1 hour.
  5. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  6. In a small dish add the reaming 1/4 cup of sugar.
  7. Using a cookie scoop create small balls and then roll them in the sugar.
  8. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  9. Bake for 8 minutes.
  10. Allow cookies to cool for 5 minutes and then gently press the heart shaped Reese's on top. Place in the refrigerator for 3 minutes to ensure hearts don't melt.
