Cheesy pull apart sausage bread

Cheesy pull apart sausage bread

Bread was one of the very first things I learned to bake when I was little. It was also the kind that you kneaded until your fingers turned blue. OK I exaggerated a little bit, but as a five year old it was hard.

I should have known back then that I would have a job that was food related. When the weekends rolled around I would break out my trusty chalkboard sign and make up a fictitious store name. Lunchtime would hit and I would sit my only customers (my parents) down at the table and make them gourmet sandwiches. At this time I was about 8 or 9 and would make fancy sandwiches with bacon, bread, cheese and meat. The side would be whatever chips we had in the pantry at the time. If it was a good day I might even draw a smiley face with mustard on their bread. By the time service was over I would have a $.10 tip left just for me.

I enjoyed cooking, baking or anything that brought me to the kitchen. Growing up I entered several cooking events and in High School I placed third at state for a homemade sausage and cheese stuffed bread. It took me 3 years to perfect that recipe and I was so proud of it.

Today I’m sharing a MUCH simpler version of that complex recipe. Cheesy pull apart sausage bread made with pre-made dough balls. It’s a cheesy goodness that will be perfect for the upcoming holidays. You can even slice it up to make a sandwich with this bread for double the protein.

Wrap it up in the bread pan with a dish towel and deliver to family, friends or neighbors.

  • 1/3 cup shredded parmesan cheese

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Place 5 dinner rolls in the bottom of a bread loaf pan lined with parchment paper.

In a skillet over medium heat brown the sausage and then place it in a large bowl. Add the cheese and toss everything together. Place half off the mixture over the bread. Top with the remaining 6 dinner rolls. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese and sausage mixture.

Bake in the oven for 40 minutes.
