Blood Orange Margarita

Put those blood oranges to use with this simple, yet tasty Blood Orange Margarita recipe.

Blood Orange Margarita

I’ve now entered day 5 of being couped up in the house. I had huge plans this past weekend to go visit my sister outside of Austin and spend some time with her family. This past Friday I could tell something was coming on, but I had no idea that it would wipe me out all weekend long. Not to mention that my husband had off yesterday and we were still stuck at home recuperating. Actually, it was me trying to get better while he tended to the kids so I could just lay up in bed.

Go ahead and cue the oohh’s and aahh’s

Besides staying in bed most of the time, I did get up one morning to start on this Blood Orange Margarita recipe. I had the blood oranges and alcohol ready for quite some time and knew that I better get the recipe tested before the oranges went bad.

Margarita testing at 9:30 am while battling a cold just might be the way to go. Come to think of it, I took a really good nap after testing this blood orange margarita batch.

Blood Orange Margarita

For this recipe, you will need a good quality tequila, blood oranges, limes and a blood orange liqueur. The blood orange liqueur can be found at your local liquor store. The brand I used was called Thatcher’s. The salt around the rim is completely optional but I’ve always liked the salty taste with a margarita on the rocks.
