Today is National Hummus Day and for all you hummus lovers I’ve baked up a simple Cuban Slider.
There’s something about a satisfying sandwich. Exceptional bread, great meat, superb cheese and of course salivating fillings like hummus. For the past couple of years I’ve noticed a Baked Ham and Cheese sandwich floating around Pinterest. I wanted to take it up a step by making a Baked Cuban Slider. This past year I came back from BlogHer Food Miami craving all things Cuban especially their sandwich. It was all about frying it up to make a Crispy Cuban Egg Roll.
Now I’m pushing the frying oil aside to bake these delicious sliders. Now you will notice that I’ve changed a couple of the “typical” Cuban ingredients to make my own version. You can simply change it up however you like but I highly recommend this version.
The hummus that you have to try out on this sammie is no other than Sabra. Sabra has been a great brand to work with and all of their products are favorites of ours. For this recipe I used Sabra’s Classic Hummus but I have to say that my all time favorite flavors are Roasted Pine Nut and their new Lemon Twist. These sliders didn’t need an extra flavor profile and that’s why I stuck with the plain. If you’re feeling adventurous try out there Chipotle Hummus with these Baked Cuban Sliders.
Today you can hop on over to the Sabra Facebook page to win coupons for National Hummus Day.
ENJOY ~ Meagan
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Slice the sweet rolls in half and place the bottom half in a 8 by 11 inch baking dish. Brush the bottom layer with a little dab of mustard on each bottom piece. Layer with 3 slices of swiss cheese cut in half, followed by roast beef, pickles, ham and the rest of the cheese. Brush the underside of all the top pieces with the hummus and place on the sandwiches.
In a bowl combine the butter and garlic powder and brush the tops of the sweet rolls. Place in the oven for 15 minutes.
