Do you ever only need half of an avocado but you don’t really want to waste the other half. I used to always have that problem when I was making an avocado sandwich and I would just need a little bit of it.
The big question is how do you keep a partially used avocado fresh? The good news is that I have an answer for all of you!
I found this out by accident a couple of years ago when I decided to keep the pit in the unused side and stick it back in the refrigerator for a couple of hours. When I went to retrieve the avocado I just knew it would be an ugly brown color and I would be wasting it. I was completely shocked to find the avocado absolutely PERFECT! The most I have ever kept the avocado in the refrigerator was about 5 hours and it never turned brown.

This definitely works. I’ve had half for lunch one day, left the stone in the other half and kept it in a tupperware box in the fridge for lunch the next day, no brown!

Good to know it lasted more than a day for you!

Love this tip. I’ve also heard that’s how you keep guac from turning brown too. Keep the pit in the bowl with the guar!

Nothing beats eating green guacamole instead of it turning a nasty brown color!

This is definitely an awesome trick! It also helps if you keep the avocado in an airtight container so oxygen can’t get to it. I love avocados more than anything!

I love this trick and it will stay ok in the fridge for about a day from my experience!

Great tip, Meagan! Another one that’s useful is to pop the shell of the used half of avocado back on top, and wrap up the whole thing in a plastic bag. The less air that gets to the fresh half, the less brown it will turn!
