Well, we survived the first day of school. One kid was super excited about starting Pre-K, the oldest was 5 minutes late after deciding he wanted to be dropped off and then changed last minute to me walking in with him. The little one in the bunch just hates school period. If it’s not my husband or me watching him then he is just plain miserable. I hope the rest of the week does not continue on this same path.

Tomorrow, I will be sharing this Sunrise Smoothie again with the kids to help give them an extra boost in the morning. We tested out the recipe this past weekend and I received two thumbs up from the family.

Sunrise Smoothie

Yield: 2 smoothie cups

Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup strawberry yogurt
  • 1 cup frozen red raspberries
  • 1 whole banana
  • 1 1/4 cup whole milk, divided
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice

Instructions

In a blender combine the first three ingredients plus 1 cup of milk. Blend until smooth and then pour into 2 cups. Then add 1/4 cup milk, blueberries and orange juice into the blender. Process until smooth and then pour over the raspberry mixture.
